Financial Regulation

Financial institutions operate within an extensive and continuously developing regulatory framework. We advise banks, other regulated financial institutions and service providers on how legal and regulatory requirements apply to their business, governance, products and customer relationships.

Our work includes regulatory interpretation and legal assessments, as well as advice on governance arrangements, internal policies and procedures, product and service development, customer processes and sustainability-related regulatory requirements. We assist with both ongoing regulatory questions and larger implementation and compliance projects.

We regularly support in-house legal and compliance functions with questions that require an external legal assessment or additional capacity. This may involve interpreting new requirements, assessing specific compliance issues or assisting with the implementation of regulatory changes.

We closely follow regulatory developments in Norway and at European level and assess their practical implications for our clients. Our advice focuses on identifying what the applicable rules require and how they can be implemented in a proportionate and workable manner, without adding unnecessary complexity.

Regulatory matters often extend into related corporate, contractual and commercial questions, which we address as part of the wider context.
